Gigante, a grade 2 stakes-winning millionaire by Not This Time , sold for $610,000 to Clark Brewster and L and N Racing in a one-horse flash sale on Fasig-Tipton Digital. The 5-year-old was consigned as a horse of racing age by Lane’s End, from trainer Steve Asmussen's stable at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. Bidding for Gigante began Jan. 27 and closed Jan. 31.
“Fasig-Tipton showed us once again how a quality horse is well received by the market on their digital platform,” said Allaire Ryan, sales director for Lane’s End. “The flash sale provided an efficient, customized opportunity for us to offer Gigante on behalf of his owners, and he is an exciting, turnkey prospect for his new racing connections. Bidding was healthy from start to finish and we are grateful to the Fasig Digital team for facilitating a fantastic sale.”
A stakes winner every year from 2 to 5, Gigante won the Jan. 18 Colonel E. R. Bradley Stakes and the Dec. 21 Buddy Diliberto Memorial Stakes in his two most recent starts. To date, he has a 8-1-2 record from 19 starts and earnings of $1,187,650.
“The Gigante Flash Sale produced a ‘home run’ result,” said Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton director of digital sales. “With bidders from multiple continents, the international reach of our platform was on full display once again. Gigante’s $610,000 sale comes on the heels of selling Tuscan Sky for $450,000 a couple weeks ago, proving that Fasig-Tipton Digital is the number one digital platform to sell a racehorse."
