Consignor Tom McCrocklin sent out Global Leader (Hip 220), a filly by Uncle Mo, to blaze a quarter-mile in :20 2/5 June 10, during Day 2 of the under-tack show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales June 2-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age Sale.
The speedy filly was offered in April at the OBS Spring 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale, where she failed to meet her reserve, attracting a final bid of $285,000. She had previously breezed a quarter-mile in :20 3/5 at the April under-tack show. Mustang Farms purchased Global Leader as a yearling for $210,000 at the 2025 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
"She worked :20 3/5 and for whatever reason that I've had yet to figure out, we didn't get her sold," McCrocklin said. "We had enough confidence in her that we wanted to bring her back to June and let her show that she's a really fast filly. She has grown; she's never been the biggest filly, but she has grown. She's beautifully balanced, she looks like a runner, she looks like an Uncle Mo, and I feel like she'll be appreciated."
Global Leader is the first foal of the stakes-placed mare Corey, who is a half sister to graded stakes winner Happy Farm. The filly was bred in Kentucky by Castleton Lyons and Kilboy Estate. Castleton Lyons purchased the Florida-bred mare Corey with Global Leader in utero for $475,000 at the 2023 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
"She's balanced," McCrocklin said. "One of the words you're always going to hear with these horsemen is balance, athleticism. Beautiful neck and top line. Strong hindquarters, deep heart girth. Just all the things you need to be a racehorse."
A filly by Jack Christopher , consigned as Hip 273 by Doble J Equine Sales, agent, recorded a quarter-mile in :20 3/5, for the second-fastest time of the day at that distance.
Hip 273 was bred in Kentucky by Phoenix Thoroughbreds (III) out of the stakes-producing mare Dreaming of You, who is a half sister to multiple graded stakes winner and producer Justwhistledixie, grade 2 winner Chace City, and graded-placed Bakken. Hip 273 was picked up as a yearling for $20,000 by Let's Try Stable at the 2025 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale.
Seven horses tied for the fastest furlong of the day, breezing in :09 4/5.
The under-tack show continues June 11 at 7:30 a.m. ET with hips 417-612 set to head to the ring. Full results for the under-tack show can be found online at obssales.com.
