A sensational start to 2026 around the world for Ghaiyyath extended to Europe as the promising Gethin gained a first listed victory in the April 6 Magnolia Stakes at Kempton.
The immaculately bred Kildangan Stud resident is now being represented on the track by his third crop. The victory of the Owen Burrows-trained gray became his 11th individual stakes winner so far, but what is more impressive has been Ghaiyyath's results from further afield.
Among six group winners sired by the 11-year-old, two have reached group 1 level already. Godolphin homebred Observer landed the Victoria Derby (G1) at Flemington last November and added the Australian Guineas (G1) in late February. Meanwhile, Opera Ballo took the Jebel Hatta (G1T) in January and is expected to be an important figure in Charlie Appleby's squad this summer.
Only this weekend, Observer was a slightly disappointing fifth in the Australian Derby (G1) but his paternal half brother Storm Leopard, who landed the Tulloch Stakes (G2) March 28, stepped up to take third.
Lightly raced Gethin is held in the highest regard by Burrows, who could consider going up to group 1 level for the Prix Ganay (G1), depending on the view of the colt's connections.
He is owned by his breeders, Martin and Lee Taylor of Elysian Bloodstock, brothers who are best known for racing the 2011 Oaks (G1) winner Dancing Rain, later an important broodmare for Godolphin and dam of last year's Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1T) third Diamond Rain.
