TVG Credit, Debit Card Deposit Issue Resolved

Customers who use cards to make deposits have been unable to do so since Feb. 7.

An issue that made credit and debit card deposits unavailable for TVG.com customers has been resolved, according to a FanDuel Racing social media post Feb. 24.

TVG customers who use credit and debit card deposits have been unable to do so since at least Feb. 7, when FanDuel Racing announced that the deposits were unavailable due to "a third-party issue." TVG is owned by FanDuel Group, a subsidiary of the Irish bookmaker Flutter Entertainment, and was acquired during a merger with Betfair in 2018.

Although the television channel formerly known as TVG has since been rebranded as FanDuel Racing, the online website still carries the original name. Additionally, FanDuel owns a separate horse racing wagering website named FanDuel Racing. Upon announcing the outage Feb. 7, the social media post recommended using FanDuel Racing as an alternative for affected TVG customers.

A Feb. 11 Associated Press article reported that FanDuel Sportsbook, the company's home for sports betting, would discontinue credit card deposits beginning March 2. Competitor DraftKings Sportsbook made a similar move last August. Sports bettors using credit cards for deposits are responsible for fees, leading many to use alternative methods.

"Over the last few months, FanDuel has been evaluating the payment methods that we offer to customers and made the decision to remove credit cards as an option for our Sportsbook, casino, and racing product in the United States," the sportsbook was quoted by the Associated Press. "This change was made to improve the deposit experience for our customers."

A FanDuel Racing spokesperson confirmed that the company is not planning to discontinue credit card deposits for ADW customers. FanDuel Racing declined BloodHorse's request for further comment on why those deposits had been unavailable since Feb. 7.
