Fleming Thoroughbred Farm's Per Capita sired his first winner Feb. 19 when Tapit Warrior rallied for a 1 1/2-length victory in a maiden special weight at Turf Paradise

After finishing fifth on debut Feb. 4 in a 6-furlong maiden event, Tapit Warrior successfully wheeled back on two weeks' rest and stretched out to a mile in winning Thursday's race. Breaking last in the field of seven, the 3-year-old gelding raced near the back of the pack through splits of :23.61 and :48.23 set by Larry's Gold. Advancing leaving the far turn, Tapit Warrior had the lead by a head through 6 furlongs in 1:13.40 and pulled away to win in 1:39.55.

Owned by Anthony DeMarco and trained by Edward Kereluk, Tapit Warrior paid $23.80 to win.

Tapit Warrior was bred in Arizona by Fleming Thoroughbred Farm, who stands second-crop sire Per Capita. A son of Tapit , the well-bred Per Capita earned $134,140 on the track with a 2-2-2 record in eight starts. Bred in Kentucky by Gainesway Thoroughbreds, Per Capita is out of the grade 3-winning Orientate mare Successful Outlook. The stallion is half sibling to grade 1 winner Sweet Lulu and a full sibling to graded winners and sires Anchor Down and Iron Fist.

Per Capita stood last year at Fleming Thoroughbred Farm near Cashion, Ariz., for $2,000.
