The Fasig-Tipton Digital Soul of an Angel Flash Sale, a one-horse online auction of 2024 Eclipse champion female sprinter Soul of an Angel, closed March 4 with a record result of $2.6 million. She was purchased by Chatsworth Stud of Australia.

The price is the highest to date on the Fasig-Tipton Digital platform, which launched in March of 2022. The 2024 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) winner was consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, from her stable at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Fla. Bidding on Soul of an Angel began Feb. 26 and closed March 4 shortly after 6 p.m. ET.

"We are extremely thankful to owners Mark Cornett of C2 Racing, Mark Martinez of Agave Racing, and Ken T. Reimer, along with Taylor Made Sales for entrusting Fasig-Tipton Digital with their champion," said Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton's director of digital sales. "It was an honor to have a horse with the accolades of Soul of an Angel on the platform."

The 6-year-old daughter of Atreides sealed the deal for her Eclipse with an impressive come-from-behind victory in the Breeders' Cup at Del Mar, defeating a deep field including Society, Ways and Means, and Vahva. Earlier in her 2024 campaign, Soul of an Angel won the Ruffian Stakes (G2) at Aqueduct Racetrack and the Princess Rooney Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream.

She is out of The Factor  mare Factor One, a half sister to Homeboykris, who won the 2009 Champagne Stakes (G1), and stakes-placed Lucky Slevin.

Soul of an Angel started from humble beginnings, as a $3,000 RNA at the 2020 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearling Sale, where she was consigned by her breeder Westbrook Stable.

She was trained by Steven Dye for co-owners James Gerald and Hall Performance in her first five races. Then James took over as trainer for her next 30 runs, which included a stakes win at Horseshoe Indianapolis in 2023 and a placing in the 2024 Royal Delta Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream. She sold privately after a sixth-place finish in the 2024 Azeri Stakes (G2) at Oaklawn Park.

Transferred to trainer Saffie Joseph Jr, at first for C2 Racing Stable and Agave Racing Stable, she won the Ruffian in her first start for the new connections. Ken. T. Reimer bought in after the Princess Rooney victory.

"Soul of an Angel took us to the pinnacle of horse racing in the Breeders' Cup, so it was a bit bittersweet selling letting her go," said co-owner Mark Cornett.  "We are thrilled with the result and wish the new owners the best of luck with her."

Soul of an Angel has a 6-7-6 record in 42 lifetime starts, with earnings of $1,205,175. Plans for her moving forward were not immediately announced by her new owner.
