WinStar Farm's multiple graded stakes winner and Kentucky Derby (G1) runner-up Two Phil's , a son of leading sire and grade 1 winner Hard Spun , sired his first reported foal just after midnight Jan. 10 at Pine Branch Farm in Lexington.
The filly, who was co-bred by Meredith Krupp and Phillip Sagan Racing, is out of the winning Street Sense mare Makin' Sense, a half sister to Indiana Oaks (G2) winner Tiz Windy and graded stakes-placed Patch, who was third in the 2017 Belmont Stakes (G1). Makin' Sense's dam, Windyindy, is out of stakes winner Unbridled Wind, who is a full sister to 1998 champion 3-year-old filly Banshee Breeze.
"She has great bone and really good size," said Krupp, who owns Pine Branch Farm. "Very happy with her and thrilled for the Sagan family."
Two Phil's retired to stud with five wins from 10 career starts, having amassed earnings of $1,583,450. Bred in Kentucky by Phillip Sagan and campaigned in partnership by Sagan, Patricia's Hope, and Madaket Stables, Two Phil's won the Jeff Ruby Steaks Stakes (G3) at Turfway Park. After finishing a close second in the Kentucky Derby, Two Phil's won the Ohio Derby (G3) at Thistledown.
Two Phil's was produced from the multiple stakes-winning and graded stakes-placed General Quarters mare Mia Torri, who earned $314,720. The mare is a half sister to graded stakes-placed River Rocks and stakes-placed Go Gator Girl Go. The WinStar stallion stands for $10,000.
