Besting two rivals at the wire, Storm Changer captures a New York Stallion Stakes at Aqueduct Race Track April 13, a win that gave sire Name Changer his first black-type winner.
Bumping another runner at the start, the 3-year-old filly gathered herself a ran off the pace before jockey Jose Gomez swung her outside six wide. Rallying from her outside position near the sixteenth pole, the dark bay or brown filly outlasted Princess Mischief by a half-length and Disco Star, who was a nose back in third.
The Peter Kazamias homebred (Kaz Hill Farm) improves to 2-1-0 from five career starts and $183,750 in winnings. She paid $27.80 with a $2 win ticket.
Having raced exclusively in New York, Storm Changer is trained by Carlos Martin.
