The under tack show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales March 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale kicked off March 6 after being delayed one day by the weather. Hips 1-272 breezed Thursday, with three juvenile colts clocking the fastest furlong of the day in :09 4/5.

Hip 119, a colt by first-crop sire and multiple grade 1 winner Maxfield , is the second foal out of the multiple stakes-winning and grade 2-placed Sky Mesa  mare Eyeinthesky. Consigned by Wavertree Stables, the bay colt was purchased by Polo Bloodstock at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale for $75,000. He was bred in Kentucky by War Horse Place.

A colt by another freshman sire in Charlatan , Hip 176 is out of the graded stakes-placed Tapizar mare Hang a Star, and was bred in Kentucky by Newstead. He hails from the family of multiple grade 1 winner and 2020 champion turf female Rushing Fall and is consigned by Torie and Jimbo Gladwell's Top Line Sales.

"We started with a bang. We knew that colt was fast, and it set the tone for us for the day," Jimbo Gladwell said of Hip 176. "It took a free-running horse to get through the wind today, I thought. We've got a big dose of Charlatans on the farm, and they all train well, they're forward. I can't say enough good things about him."

Top Line Sales also sent out Hip 238, a colt by Maclean's Music  out of the stakes-winning Kantharos  mare Katie's Kiss. The colt was bred in Kentucky by Torie Gladwell, Cincinnati Equine, Borrowdale, Knollwood Farm, and Valerie Dailey. The mare was bought by Southern Wives when carrying the colt, her seventh foal, at the 2022 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale for $75,000.

"Both colts prepped the same exact times, they galloped out very similar," Gladwell said. "I don't want to say I was expecting :09 4/5 but I was sure hoping for a :09 4/5 with the second colt. Both of them have good size, they're balanced colts, they've been sound. They've trained great all year and got to showcase their ability in some really tough conditions today and stand out."

The session's fastest quarter-mile was completed in :20 4/5 by two juveniles, the first being a filly by Connect  out of the stakes-placed Tale of the Cat mare Catsadiva. Consigned as Hip 19, she was bred in Kentucky by Frankfort Park Farm and is consigned by Hoppel at OBS. The filly was bought as a yearling by Edge Investments for $20,000 at Fasig-Tipton's The July Sale.

A colt by Fog of War, Hip 245 from the Omar Ramirez Bloodstock consignment, equaled the quarter-mile bullet time. The ninth foal out of the stakes-placed Quiet American mare Kiss the Lady, the colt was bred in New York by 3C Stables. He was purchased for $4,000 by Luis A. Quevedo at last year's OBS Winter Mixed Sale, and RNA'd for $9,000 at the OBS October Yearling Sale.

The under tack show continues March 7 at 8:00 a.m. ET with hips 273-544 set to take to the track.
