The 2025 California Thoroughbred Breeders Association Winter Mixed Sale will be held Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 12 noon PT at the Hines Pavilion at Fairplex.
The sale will include a 22-horse dispersal from the farm of Donald Valpredo, California industry leader and former President of the CTBA, who passed away in November. Checkmate Thoroughbreds has the consignment.
Including the Valpredo dispersal, there are 143 cataloged and supplemented broodmares, racing prospects, yearlings and 2-year-olds available in a sale that previously produced stakes winners like Bodacious (2024 I'm Smokin Stakes at Del Mar), Lord Prancealot (2023 Graduation Stakes at Del Mar) and Grade I-producing broodmares like Expo Gold (dam of Preakness-winning filly Swiss Skydiver).
