A multiple grade 2-winning son of Union Rags , Catalina Cruiser has been sold to stand in Chile in a deal brokered by Matt Bowling of Bowling Bloodstock and J.P. Sullivan of Sullivan Bloodstock.

Catalina Cruiser retired to Lane's End Farm in 2020 with a record of 7-0-0 from nine starts for earnings of $711,100. In 2018-19 at Del Mar, he twice won both the San Diego Handicap (G2) and Pat O'Brien Stakes (G2), and also in 2019, he took the True North Stakes (G2) at Belmont Park for owner Hronis Racing and trainer John Sadler. In his final career start, he finished seventh that fall in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) at Santa Anita Park.

A year earlier, his only other loss had come when he ran sixth in the Breeder's Cup Dirt Mile (G1) at Churchill Downs. His initial stud fee was $20,000.

The ninth-leading second-crop sire in North America, Catalina Cruisier has one black-type horse this year. His son Catalytic was second behind Fierceness in the Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream Park and ran 19th in the Kentucky Derby (G1) a start later at Churchill Downs. Catalytic was most recently second in the Carry Back Stakes over the summer at Gulfstream. He is 1-3-0 in five starts with earnings of $231,525.

Catalina's Cruiser's progeny have earned more than $2.8 million to date. He currently stands at Porta Pia Farm in Chile for his new ownership.
