Pin Oak Stud is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Hardy as the new Director of Farm Operations and Property. Hardy, formerly Head of Sales at Goffs in Ireland and General Manager of Margaux Farm, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His appointment marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for Pin Oak Stud under the new ownership of Dana and Jim Bernhard.

"Michael Hardy is a great addition to the Pin Oak family," said Ben Bernhard, Vice President of Pin Oak. "His proven leadership abilities, extensive knowledge of the industry, and passion for innovation will be instrumental in shaping the future of the farm.”

Hardy joins the Bernhard’s Pin Oak Stud with over two decades of experience in the Thoroughbred industry. Born into a racing family in Northern Ireland, he gained early experience on his family’s stud farm before completing his degree in Equine Science at the University of Limerick. From there, he gained further experience on the Irish National Stud’s Management Course and the Godolphin Flying Start Program. He spent six years at the helm of Margaux Farm as they expanded and developed into a premier commercial breeding and training facility before moving into bloodstock at home in Ireland with Goffs for the last three years.

“It’s an incredible opportunity to return to Kentucky in this new role,” stated Hardy. “The Bernhard family has such a clear and inspiring vision for the future of Pin Oak Stud. Building on the legacy left by Ms. Abercrombie, I am thrilled to help bring that vision to life and contribute to a successful future for the farm.”

Founded by Ms. Josephine Abercrombie in 1952, Pin Oak Stud has been a fixture in the Thoroughbred industry for over five decades, consistently producing top-quality racehorses and breeding stock. Purchased by the Bernhards in 2022, Pin Oak Stud aims to continue the heritage of the land and the legacy left by Ms. Abercrombie. With Hardy's appointment, the farm looks forward to this new era, focusing on innovative approaches to racing and breeding that show their commitment to the horse and the wider Thoroughbred industry.
