The first of six under tack shows for the Ocala Breeders' June 2-Year-Olds & Horses of Racing Age Sale was led by a West Coast colt and a Bucchero filly, who both worked two furlongs in :20 3/5 June 4.
Hip 16, a colt by West Coast out of multiple stakes winner Overprepared, by Quality Road , shared the two-furlong bullet. Omar Ramirez Bloodstock, which plucked the Kentucky-bred out of Fasig-Tipton's Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale for $14,000, consigns him at OBS. He is the sixth foal out of his dam, who is a half to grade 1 winner Shadow Cast and stakes-placed winner Queen Marge.
Hip 163, a filly by Bucchero, also stopped the timer in :20 3/5. The filly consigned by Richardson Bloodstock is the first foal out of the winning Majestic City mare Sister Aurora. Bred in Florida by Ricardo Romo, she has not been through a sale previously.
There was a gap to the second-fastest times at two furlongs, with two horses going :21, and then two more who went :21 1/5.
Two horses shared the best time for one furlong.
Hip 34, a colt by Munnings , stopped the clock in :09 4/5. Consigned by Britton Peak, the Kentucky-bred is out of the unplaced Air Force Blue mare Piccadilly Line. The colt was a $70,000 purchase by KHF at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
Hip 144, a filly by Frosted consigned by Grade One Investments, went one furlong in :09 4/5. Bred in Kentucky by Machmer Hall, she is the third foal out of the unraced Majesticperfection mare Shawklit Cake, who is a half to grade 2 winner Shawklit Mint. Shawklit Cake's second foal, a Palace Malice filly named Venomous Vixen, won her debut at Laurel last year as a 2-year-old. Hip 144 sold for $18,000 at the OBS Winter Mixed Sale.
Another eight 2-year-olds worked in :10.
The under tack show resumes June 5 at 7:30 a.m. with Hips 176-350 scheduled to breeze. The breeze shows, which are scheduled to run daily through June 9, are streamed live at obssales.com, as well as bloodhorse.com.
