Valene Farms' Smoken Wicked became the first winner for Louisiana-based freshman stallion Bobby's Wicked One  in taking a maiden race for 2-year-olds at Evangeline Downs June 1 by 7 1/2 lengths. Smoken Wicked was the sire's first starter.

Racing in the Saturday night opener for Louisiana-bred 2-year-olds at 4 1/2 furlongs, Smoken Wicked pressed the pace before taking over on the turn and opening up on the field down the lane. He was timed covering the distance in :53.03 under jockey C.J. McMahon. He paid $4.40 to win and earned $20,400 for winning the $34,000 contest.

Sturges Ducoing trains the chestnut colt, who is out of the Street Boss mare Street Smoke. Bred by Tom Curtis and Wayne Simpson, he was a $38,000 purchase last year by his owner from the Clear Creek Stud consignment to the Breeders' Sales of Louisiana Yearling and Mixed 2023 Sale.

Bobby's Wicked One is a 9-year-old graded stakes-winning son of Speightstown who placed at the grade 1 level. He finished his career with a 6-4-1 record in 18 starts for trainer Al Stall Jr. and owner Autumn Hill Farms Racing Stables. In his 2017 debut, Bobby's Wicked One defeated subsequent 2019 champion male sprinter Mitole  by 5 1/4 lengths at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. He went on to earn $547,673.

The stallion, who has 25 foals in his first crop, stands for an advertised fee of $3,500 at LACER at Aztec Equine in Sunset, La.
