Gainesway Farm announced Oct. 21 it will stand multiple grade 1 winner Raging Bull  for the 2022 breeding season upon his retirement from racing. The Peter Brant-owned 6-year-old son of Dark Angel has earned more than $1.6 million and is pointed towards the FanDuel Breeders' Cup Mile Presented by PDJF (G1T) Nov. 6 at Del Mar.

"Raging Bull is a knockout physically," said Gainesway general manager Brian Graves.  "His six triple-digit Beyer Speed Figures and his performances over 14 grade 1 events are impressive. His sire, Dark Angel, has become one of the most influential sires in international racing."

The Chad Brown-trained Raging Bull won his debut at age 3 at Keeneland and added the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes (G2T) and Saranac Stakes (G3T) that year at Saratoga Race Course before capping his sophomore campaign with a victory in the Hollywood Derby (G1T) at Del Mar.

At age 4, he made five starts, all in grade 1s, placing in the Manhattan Stakes (G1T), Fourstardave Handicap (G1T), and Ricoh Woodbine Mile (G1T).

He returned at 5 to capture the Shoemaker Mile Stakes (G1T) going away, stopping the clock with a mile at Santa Anita Park in 1:32.73. He also placed in the 2020 Maker's Mark Mile Stakes (G1T) and Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes (G1T) at Keeneland.

This year, Raging Bull kicked off his season with a victory in the Maker's Mark Mile with a final time of 1:33.86. He has since placed in two of three starts, doing so in the Poker Stakes (G3T) and another edition of the Woodbine Mile

"Raging Bull is the best looking horse I have ever trained," said Brown. "He has run fast numbers at many different tracks, winning grade 1s in three different years, the ultimate confirmation of incredible soundness."

The lone stakes winner from four foals to race out of the Mr. Greeley mare Rosa Bonheur, Raging Bull was bred by Dayton Investments and foaled in France. He was purchased for the equivalent of US$100,935 by E. Colombo Agency from The Castlebridge Consignment at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale in 2016.

He has an unraced 2-year-old full brother based in the United States named Bobbie D. The mare also has a yearling colt by Dubawi named Kubrick and she foaled a No Nay Never filly this year.

Raging Bull has seven wins in 21 starts, 18 of which have come in graded company, and has won or placed in nine of 14 grade 1s.

"I am extremely 'Bullish' on his chances at stud. We are excited to be partnering with Gainesway on Raging Bull and will be supporting him strongly with our mares," said Brant.

Raging Bull enters stud in 2022 with an advertised fee of $10,000, live foal stands and nurses.
