KEEP, Race For Education Funds $80,000 in Scholarships

The KEEP Foundation, in partnership with The Race for Education, proudly announced the 2026 recipients of its annual scholarship awards. Together, the organizations awarded $80,000 in scholarships to students pursuing careers in the equine industry, agribusiness, veterinary sciences, and other agriculture-related fields. In addition to the Race for Education/KEEP Foundation Scholarships, this year marks the continued presentation of the Bob Reeves Memorial Scholarship and the Robert J. Frankel Scholarship. Both scholarships were established to honor the lasting legacies of two individuals who shaped the Thoroughbred industry through their dedication, leadership, and integrity. "We are honored to support these outstanding students as they pursue their educational and career goals," said Katie LaMonica, Chair of the KEEP Foundation Board. "The future of Kentucky's equine industry depends on developing the next generation of leaders, innovators, and advocates. The Bob Reeves Memorial Scholarship, named in honor of the late Bob Reeves; a tireless advocate for education and Thoroughbred aftercare; recognizes Ohio students who demonstrates exceptional leadership and a commitment to the equine industry. This year's Bob Reeves Memorial Scholarship recipients are Samatha Mayhugh and Kailyn Scott, both currently attend Ohio State University. The Robert J. Frankel Scholarship, established in honor of the legendary Hall of Fame trainer, is awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and have an immediate family member working at a farm or racetrack. All 2026 Frankel Scholarship recipients have a parent directly involved in thoroughbred racing in New York or California. 2026 Robert J. Frankel Scholarship recipients include: Nathalie Amzcua, Pacific College of Health and Science Kimberly Gonzalez, Molloy University Carlos Lopez, Long Island University Aiyana Sharp, University of Southern California "The Race for Education is proud to partner with the KEEP Foundation to invest in the next generation of leaders in the equine industry," said Kevin O'Keeffe, Chairman of The Race for Education. This year, scholarships were awarded to 31 students from across Kentucky and the nation. Recipients were selected based on academic achievement, leadership, financial need, and a demonstrated commitment to the equine or agricultural industries. The Race for Education and the KEEP Foundation will host a special Scholarship Awards Reception on September 10, 2026 at the Round Barn at Red Mile racetrack to celebrate this year's scholarship recipients and the bright future of Kentucky's equine industry.
