Structor Sires First Winner in Japan

American expatriate freshman stallion Structor, who stands at Lex Stud on Hokkaido in Japan, sired his first winner June 3 when his daughter Yakumo Venus won her racing debut at Sonoda Racecourse. Symboli Stud bred the first-out winner out of the Eishin Flash daughter Gold Oak, who now has two winners from three to race. Gold Oak traces tail-female to prominent mare Fall Aspen, dam of 1994 Eclipse champion 2-year-old male Timber Country and other grade/group 1 winners such as Fort Wood, Hamas, and Northern Aspen. Symboli Stud sold Yakumo Venus through the 2025 Hokkaido Autumn Sale for ¥7.04 million (approx. US$47,860) to Hyogoken Umanushikyokai Kubota Kensetsu. Yakumo Venus made her debut on a muddy track going about 7 furlongs in a final time of 1:32.70. Structor, a son of Palace Malice, was a multiple graded stakes winner at 2 when he won the 2019 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T) after capturing the Pilgrim Stakes (G3T). The stallion is a half brother to graded-placed winner Always Carina, dam of this year's Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Always a Runner (Gun Runner). Ramiro Restrepo's Marquee Bloodstock, which sold Structor for $850,000 at the 2019 Ocala Breeders' Sales March 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale with pinhooker Joe Pickerrell, did the stallion deal with Lex Stud. Lex Stud has 23 stallions on its roster, including 2019 U.S. Horse of the Year Bricks and Mortar and grade 1 winners Beach Patrol and Mastery. Structor stands for ¥500,000 with a live foal guarantee.
