Light Won Up Headlines Senorita Stakes Field
Purple Rein Racing and Mark Davis' Light Won Up headlines a field of 10 for the $100,000 Senorita Stakes (G3T) May 9 at Santa Anita Park. The 3-year-old City of Light filly returns to the downhill turf course where she secured a 2 3/4-length win in the Sweet Life Stakes Feb. 7. Light Won Up enters the race off a solid effort in the Limestone Stakes (G3T) at Keeneland, where she finished fourth behind Slay the Day. After finishing third in the Limestone, Cy Fair returned April 30 to win the Mamzelle Stakes (G3T) at Churchill Downs, defeating Slay the Day by a length. Light Won Up should appreciate the class relief in the Senorita. The most likely threat to Light Won Up is Mo' Em Down, who won an allowance optional claiming race over the course April 4. Prior to that, the Peter Miller trainee was second in the 2025 Sorrento Stakes (G3) on the dirt at Del Mar. Another local looking to upset Light Won Up is 2025 Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf Stakes winner Dreaming of Alys. The daughter of Upstart makes her first start of 2026 after finishing fifth in the 2025 Surfer Girl Stakes (G3T) at Santa Anita. Trainer Mark Glatt will send out group-placed Bella Lyra (GER), who will make her first start in the United States.
