Periban Joins CTT Board; TOC Announces Board Elections
California Thoroughbred Trainers president John Sadler has announced that trainer Jorge Periban has accepted the unanimous invitation of CTT's Directors to join the CTT board, effective immediately. The personable Periban, a native of Mexico and a former jockey, has been training successfully in California since 2004. He has trained runners in both Northern and Southern California at all California tracks. He has been a steadfast volunteer for the CTT, serving on the Nominating Committee in the past and on the Election Committee. "I'm honored to join CTT's board," he said, "and will do my best to represent the interests of all trainers and workers in the backstretch community." In a separate action involving a California stakeholder, elected to the Thoroughbred Owners of California's board of directors were Gary Barber, Tim Cohen, Matt Dohman, Gary Fenton, Terry Lovingier, Darren Filkins, and John Sikura. Those seven directors join current TOC board members Joe Ciaglia, Mark Glatt, Ty Green, Ryan Hanson, Stephanie Hronis, Bob Liewald, Andy Mathis, and Samantha Siegel. The new TOC board will be seated on July 1.
