Tapit Trice's First Foals Arrive in Kentucky, New York
Gainesway's classic-placed, grade 1 winner Tapit Trice has been represented by his first two foals this month, with one born in Kentucky and one born more recently in New York. Little Rose Farm bred the Kentucky-bred filly born Feb. 1 out of the Demarchelier (GB) winner San Pantaleo, whom Gainesway raced. San Pantaleo is out of the Arch winner Treasured, who is a full sister to English stakes winner Desert Phantom and stakes-placed winner Mercilla. The Tapit Trice filly is San Pantaleo's first foal. Stonegate Stables in New York reported a filly born at its farm Feb. 18 out of the unraced American Pharoah daughter Pharoah's Fortune. The mare is out of the Indian Charlie mare Enchanted Fortune, who is out of the multiple grade 2 winner and near-millionaire House of Fortune (Free House). Stonegate bought Pharoah's Fortune for $7,000 at the 2024 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale out of the Legacy Bloodstock consignment. The Tapit Trice filly is her second foal. Tapit Trice is a 6-year-old son of Gainesway's multiple leading sire Tapit. He was bred by Gainesway and campaigned by the farm with Whisper Hill Farm. Tapit Trice won at 2 and became a multiple graded stakes winner at 3 with victories in the Blue Grass Stakes (G1) and Tampa Bay Derby (G3). He also finished third in the Belmont Stakes (G1) and Travers Stakes (G1) on his way to earning $1,156,700. Tapit Trice stands at Gainesway for $10,000.
