Dancing Porky First Winner for Honor A. P.

Lane's End's Honor A. P. was represented by his first winner April 25 when Dancing Porky won the fifth race at Turf Paradise in his second career start. Owned by Gordiano Racing Stable and trainer Jose Silva, the bay colt circled horses on the far turn and earned a 1 1/4-length victory despite being fanned six wide at the head of the stretch. Dancing Porky completed five furlongs in :59.17 on a fast track. Bred in Kentucky by H & E Ranch, Dancing Porky is the second winner from two to race out of the winning Broken Vow mare Morning Dance. Honor A. P., a regally bred son of Honor Code out of grade 1 winner Hollywood Story, was purchased by C R K Stable as a yearling in 2018 for $850,000 at The Saratoga Sale, Fasig-Tipton's select yearling sale. A winner at 2, Honor A. P. placed in the 2020 San Felipe Stakes (G2) before posting his biggest win in that year's Santa Anita Derby (G1), defeating eventual Horse of the Year Authentic. He then placed in the Shared Belief Stakes and finished fourth in the September 2020 running of the Kentucky Derby (G1) to close out his career. The George Krikorian-bred ridgling retired with a 2-3-0 record in six starts for trainer John Shirreffs. Honor A. P. entered stud at Lane's End in 2021 and bred 110 mares in his first season; he is standing the 2024 season for $10,000 at the Versailles, Ky., farm.
