WinStar Farm's freshman sire Good Samaritan  sired his first winner from his first starter when Huntertown won May 11 at Horseshoe Indianapolis by an easy 6 3/4 lengths. The final time in the 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight was :54.29.

Huntertown is a homebred for Roger McDaniel's Derby Lane Farm, who bred the colt out of the winning Proud Citizen mare Charlene's Pal. The colt is the only foal out of the mare, who is a full sister to multiple grade 2 winner Hembree. Also bred by Derby Lane, Hembree set two course records while racing from 2 to 7. She won the 2019 El Prado Stakes on the grass at Gulfstream Park, going 7 1/2 furlongs in 1:27.06, and captured the 2021 Joe Hernandez Stakes (G2T) at Santa Anita Park, where she went 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:13.80.

WinStar bred Good Samaritan, an 8-year-old son of Harlan's Holiday out of the stakes-placed Pulpit mare Pull Dancer. Racing from 2 to 4, Good Samaritan won or placed in eight graded stakes on dirt and turf. His best performances were wins in the Summer Stakes (G2T), Jim Dandy Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G2), and the New Orleans Handicap (G2). He was also runner-up in the Clark Handicap Presented by Norton Healthcare (G1) and third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T).

Good Samaritan stands this year for $7,500.
