Gunnevera's First Foal Arrives at Pleasant Acres

Pleasant Acres Stallions announced Jan. 18 the arrival of Gunnevera's first reported foal, a colt out of the Bluegrass Cat mare Brass Cat. Gunnevera, an 8-year-old son of Dialed In, is a six-time grade 1-placed, multiple grade 2 winner, who retired with a 6-5-3 record from 21 starts and earned $5,561,800. He entered stud at Pleasant Acres in 2021 and stands this year for $6,000. "It's very exciting to see him produce such an exceptional colt in his first crop. We look forward to following this beautiful foal's career," said Helen Barbazon with Pleasant Acres. Gunnevera was accomplished at 2 when he won the Saratoga Special Stakes (G2) and $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes (G3). At 3, he won the Xpressbet Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2), finished third in the Xpressbet Florida Derby (G1), in the summer was runner-up in the Travers Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1). At 4, he would be runner-up again in the Woodward Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1) and the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1), and at 5 finished third in the Dubai World Cup Sponsored by Emirates Airline (G1). Brass Cat's first foal, Hard Rock Gold (Greatness), owned and bred by Martine Britell, became a winner last year at Laurel Park. The mare is out of stakes-placed stakes producer South Wing (Dixie Brass).
