Brennan Buys $425K Good Magic Colt for Klaravich Stable

Seth Klarman's Klaravich Stable fueled some fireworks late in the Sept. 20 session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale when agent Niall Brennan went to $425,000 to land a colt from the first crop Good Magic for the Eclipse Award-winning owner. Consigned as Hip 2326 by Bedouin Bloodstock, agent, and bred in Kentucky by SF Bloodstock, the colt is out of grade 2 winner Heart Stealer, a daughter of Speightstown. The Good Magic yearlings have impressed Brennan and he said this colt had a presence. "The market is strong, but he just stood out," Brennan said. "He's a good size for a Good Magic, great length about him … out of a Speightstown mare with a good family. We were very impressed with the individual and certainly loved the stallion and what he's doing. I thought he was one of the best I have seen all week, and it just happened that he was in this book, which probably helped him stand out. He's a late May foal; there is tons of improvement in him." Good Magic earned champion 2-year-old male honors after winning the 2017 Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) then ran second to eventual Triple Crown winner Justify in the 2018 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1). He also won the 2018 Toyota Blue Grass (G2) and betfair.com Haskell Invitational (G1) Stakes. Good Magic stood the 2021 season for an advertised fee of $30,000 at Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa near Paris, Ky.
