A filly by City of Light  proved to be the top-priced filly of session six of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, commanding $525,000 from Breeze Easy, with Tom McGreevy acting as agent.

Consigned as Hip 1860 by Warrendale Sales, agent, she is out of the Stormy Atlantic mare Donna Getyourgun, a winner from ages 2 to 6 and third in the 2013 Very One Stakes at Pimlico Race Course. Donna Getyourgun's 4-year-old Mizzen Mast filly, Mizzen Beau, won the 2020 Bison City Stakes at Woodbine for trainer Norm Casse and owner Daniel Investment Holdings. She was purchased by Patrick Daniel from the 2019 Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training for $100,000 from consignor Grassroots Training & Sales.

Hip 1860 comes from the capable family of second dam Crypotoqueen, a half sister to stakes winners Reformer Rally and Wild Royal. Cryptoqueen is the dam of Clearly a Queen, winner of the Matchmaker Handicap (G3T) and Eatontown Handicap (G3T) at Monmouth Park in 2002, and the 2001 Violet Handicap (G3) at The Meadowlands.

Breeze Easy's Mike Hall saw off underbidder Randy Hartley for the yearling filly.

"We have been here all day waiting for this horse. We haven't bought very many, but we loved this horse," Hall said. "She is the one we wanted to take home. She looks like an early type of horse that we could take to Saratoga a little later in the year."

The filly showed out of Barn 20 at the Warrendale Sales consignment.

"She was received very well. City of Light doesn't need any explanation or publicity right now," said Warrendale owner Kitty Taylor. "He is stamping them; they are beautiful, they look like him, and people are falling in love with him."

A conservative reserve was set for the filly before going through the ring Sept. 19.

"She more than exceeded her reserve, for Tony and Sarah Holmes, the breeders," Taylor said. "Small breeders have done very well this sale, like Rosilyn Polan, Farfellow Farms; it's been nice to see those people rewarded."

Breeze Easy is looking forward to Hip 1860's juvenile year.

"It's a little different look of a City of Light; she's a little more of a typey horse and could be earlier than a lot of them," said Hall. "We have some other City of Lights that we like, so we are looking forward to this one. She's a nice horse.

"We sold one yesterday (the Session 5 topper, Hip 1455, a Curlin  filly purchased by Donato Lanni, agent, for $800,000 from Eaton Sales, agent), bought one today; it helps when you have some success. We loved the horse from yesterday also. Like I said yesterday, we have to sell some horses; we are trying to build a business."
