A fundraiser benefiting Mike Recio will be held Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. ET at McCarthy's Irish Bar in Lexington. Proceeds will go toward expenses for Recio, co-founder of South Point Sales Agency, who was admitted to the intensive care unit at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington July 24 to combat sepsis and its associated complications.
The fundraiser will conduct a silent auction that will feature stallion halters from American Pharoah , Authentic , Curlin , Flatter, Justify , Not This Time , and Tapit . A backyard BBQ catered by Proud Mary BBQ, a three-day Air B&B getaway in Midway, Ky., and more will be up for grabs.
McCarthy's Irish Bar is located at 117 S. Upper Street.
A GoFundMe account has also been organized by family friend John David Christman, and a trust has been set up by Stoll Keenon Ogden to help assist the Recio Family. Donations are also being accepted via Venmo @Recio_Family_Support_Trust. Funds will be instrumental in helping Mike's wife, Nancy, and his 4-year-old twins, Addison and Wesley, through this challenging time.
