Mark Ashby and William Gotwals' Epic Luck won his debut July 28 in the first race at Delaware Park, rewarding freshman sire Madefromlucky  with his first winner.

Ridden by Aubrie Green, Epic Luck set the pace in the one-mile maiden optional claimer for 2-year-olds and led by at least two lengths through fractions of :25.91, :51.40, and 1:16.61. The gelding drew off in the stretch, crossing the wire 10 3/4 lengths in front in a final time of 1:42.39 on the fast track.

Lynn Ashby trains and co-bred Epic Luck in Pennsylvania with Gotwals. The bay is the second foal and first winner out of the Colonel John mare A Dicey Dame. He earned $16,500 for his win.

Madefromlucky is a 9-year-old son of Lookin At Lucky out of the Pulpit mare Home From Oz, a full sister to three-time leading sire Tapit . He did most of his running for owners Cheyenne Stables and Mac Nichol and trainer Todd Pletcher, earning victories in the Peter Pan Stakes (G2), West Virginia Derby (G2), Greenwood Cup Stakes (G3), and Temperence Hill Invitational Stakes while placing in eight other black-type events, including the Rebel Stakes (G2). Racing from ages 2-5, Madefromlucky retired with a 6-5-5 record from 24 starts and earnings of $1,351,500.

The chestnut entered stud in 2018 at Northview Stallion Station in Maryland and stood the 2021 season there for $5,000.
