Gouverneur Morris, a one-time Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) hopeful in 2020, will enter stud at Haras La Pasión in Argentina after being sold, according to bloodstock agent John Fulton.

Fulton wrote in an email that he and fellow agent Federico Iguacel brokered the sale of the 4-year-old Constitution  colt to a partnership. News of the stallion deal was first reported by Turf Diario.

The Todd Pletcher trainee placed in the Claiborne Breeders' Futurity (G1) at Keeneland in 2019 and in a division of the 2020 Arkansas Derby (G1) at Oaklawn Park for owners Team Valor International and WinStar Farm. He never raced after the Arkansas Derby last May due to physical ailments.

"He wound up hurting a hock, and it just never came back well enough to put him back in training," said Barry Irwin, founder and CEO of Team Valor.

Bred in Kentucky by Machmer Hall, Carrie and Craig Brogden, and James Miller, Gouverneur Morris won two of five races and placed in two other races, earning $247,500. He also ran fourth to Tiz the Law  in the 2020 Curlin Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream Park.

Out of the stakes-placed Unbridled's Song mare Addison Run, Gouverneur Morris is a half brother to multiple grade-3 placed Final Jeopardy. He was a $600,000 buy from the Eddie Woods consignment at The Gulfstream Sale, Fasig-Tipton's select 2-year-olds in training sale, in 2019.
