Leofric's First Foal is a Pennsylvania-Bred Filly

Rockridge Stud's first-crop New York sire and grade 1 winner Leofric was represented by his first foal Jan. 11 when a filly bred by trainer Amber Cobb foaled at Daydream Farm near Hamburg, Pa. The filly is the second foal out of Jurere, a daughter of Take Charge Indy, whose granddam Amirati is a winning full sister to graded-placed Honor Grades and a half sister to leading sire A.P. Indy and to grade 1 classic winner Summer Squall. Jurere also has a yearling colt by Destin. Cobb trained Jurere during the summer of 2018 for owner Tracie Ford. Leofric, an 8-year-old son of Candy Ride (ARG), won or placed in five graded stakes. He was victorious in the Clark Handicap Presented by Norton Healthcare (G1), Hagyard Fayette Stakes (G2), and West Virginia Governor's Stakes (G3). He compiled an 8-1-3 record from 14 starts and earned $951,040. He stands this year for $7,500. Leofric is out of the Unbridled's Song daughter Lady Godiva, who is a half sister to grade 1-placed, grade 3 winner Multiple Choice. Leofric sired a second filly shortly after the first, when Escape to Malibu, a daughter of Malibu Moon, foaled Jan. 14 at Rockridge. The filly, bred by Chad Carter, is Escape to Malibu's third foal. The mare is out of multiple stakes-placed Towering Escape (by Giant's Causeway) and from the family that produced multiple grade 1 winner Affirmed Success.
