Smart Strike/Wild Again Nick Moving Fast

Smart Strike/Wild Again Nick Moving Fast

Unbeaten filly Stopshoppingdebbie, a daughter of Curlin (TrueNicks), will try to become the first horse to sweep the Emerald Downs 3-year-old filly stakes division in tomorrow's Washington Oaks. She's bred on the emerging nick of Smart Strike (TrueNicks) and his sons over Wild Again mares.

Smart Strike is the sire of Stopshoppingdebbie's stakes-winning half sister Smarty Deb, and Smart Strike has two more stakes winners—including grade II winner Strike Softly—out of the Wild Again mare Wilderness Hush, a close relative of Sam-Son's Canadian champion mare Wilderness Song.

Last week, young Smart Strike stallion Papa Clem (TrueNicks) got his first winner, Hirschy, out of a mare by Wild Again. Hirschy was a $52,000 yearling, an impressive sum considering his sire's $6,500 stud fee.

The cross now has 11 winners from 12 starters (92%), and four of those (33%) are stakes winners. Click here to see the TrueNicks report.

The affinity of these bloodlines is further confirmed by Smart Strike's close relative Dance Brightly—by Mr. Prospector out of Smart Strike's half sister Dance Smartly—who sired five winners from five starters out of Wild Again mares, including Gamely Handicap (gr. IT) winner Mea Domina.
